Remember that song…

“Scatman (Ski Ba Bop Ba Dop Bop)” from 1994? Well, one day about a month ago on the way to Dallas, Allison and I were stuck on the freeway, and needed instant entertainment, so we began to scat, randomly, and then to songs that we had heard at least 4 times over the course of the drive on the radio. It provided laughter all the way to our destination, and put new spins on old songs, and you should try it! According to Wikipedia, “scat singing is vocal improvisation with random vocables and syllables or without words at all. Scat singing gives singers the ability to sing improvised melodies and rhythms, to create the equivalent of an instrumental solo using their voice.”

Instant entertainment idea in those times of need: Scat! Allison and I would be happy to provide in-person examples if after reading this, you’re still not sure what a scat should sound like. Although, that’s the fun of it, just put sounds together, even if they don’t make sense, and you’re guaranteed to have fun! Skee ba da ba ba!
