Take Steps 2009 Walk

Some consider exercise a form of entertainment (I raise my hand).  After all, it passes the time, makes you feel good, and it can even be a social event (if you have a “workout buddy,” belong to a sports club, or star on an athletic team).  One of my favorite forms of low-impact exercise is simply walking.  I grew up in a family of “walkers”; school days ended with walks where the day’s events were recapped, summer breaks were filled with evening walks, weekend mornings began with walks up and down the mountains of El Paso, stressful days resulted in walks, and, through walking and talking, some major life decisions have been made on these infamous family “walks”. Point being, walks can be meaningful and entertaining.

I just found out about the Take Steps 2009 Walk, sponsored by the Crohn’s  & Colitis Foundation of America, that will be held at the Dell Diamond in Round Rock, in a little over a week, on Saturday, June 6th at 6:30 PM.  Crohn’s and Colitis are among the digestive diseases that affect 1 out of every 200 people, and this walk is just one simple way to support research and treatment of these conditions.  I will be attending to help support a friend who has recently struggled with these conditions, and thanks to donations such as those collected at this event, she is feeling peachy and will be walkin’ strong!

If you would like more information on how you can participate in this leisurely 2-mile walk around the Dell Diamond stadium on a summer Texas evening, check out the website and click “Register Now!” or find out how to donate to support the cause.            *There is no cost to participate, so come join the walk!
