Where to Be Wednesday

Looking for a mid-day refreshment in this Texas summer heat? You’re in luck! Annie’s, the spin-off from Apple Annies, now at 319 Congress, will be conducting a ribbon-cutting ceremony today at 10:30 AM, and serving free lemonade until 3 PM.  This bistro, delicatessen, bakery, and soon-to-be bar and late night farm-to-table nosh provider, is aiming high in hopes to fulfill whatever your nourishment needs may be and at whatever time your hunger or thirst calls.

Starting on Monday, Annie’s will be open on M-W until 10 P.M., Thursday until 12 A.M., Fridays and Saturdays until 2 PM, with a full bar, late night menu, coffee bar, and dessert menu! Finally–a place to get dessert late at night downtown! And, this can be a great place to get a drink in a casual setting just a block away from the bustling chains of loud downtown bars.

Annie's at 319 Congress is a great go-to spot for entertaining clients, friends, out of town guests for breakfast, lunch, dinner, drinks, or dessert!

When I visited for lunch, I thought my Chinese Chicken Salad was fresh, tasty, and very filling and reasonable for $8, considering this is less than the price of a salad at Leaf, (to which I am loyal despite the higher price, especially when the ingredients are local and the kitchenware is eco-friendly…and I know Jon the owner!), and I had table service, even though I ordered at the counter. Also, my chocolate chip cookie was soft, chewey, and fresh out of the kitchen. I can’t wait to check out the bar or visit for late night dessert (a difficult find for some unknown reason)!

New spot for entertaining your tastebuds, thirstbuds, or just your buds at almost any time of the day: Annie’s at 319 Congress.  I’ll be curious to see if they can master all of their offerings with so many long hours. But, I’m hopeful!  *Also check out Max’s Wine Dive for late night eats during their reverse happy hour from 12-2 AM!

Also going on today is the June Charity Bash event at Paggi House, from 6-9 PM. The cover is only $10, which benefits the Heritage Society of Austin this month.  This is a great way to stay involved in the community and have fun all at the same time!  These events happen once a month, so if you can’t make it today, you’ll have other opportunities to participate! For my previous post about this organization, click here. You can also register to receive the monthly newsletter on the Charity Bash website.
