When the weekend rolls around, there’s always catching up to do. Laundry, errands, all those things you put off during the week. Catching up with friends should be a part of the list, and what better way to do it than at Saturday or Sunday morning brunch. There’s something refreshing about people getting together to review the past week, recount weekend stories from the night before, and talk about future plans over coffee, a cold glass of OJ, and a hearty daytime meal. I’m sure you have a list of your go-to, ol’ reliable brunch spots. But, more and more restaurants are offering weekend brunch, and I Rebeccammend that you make the most of Austin by branching out, brunching outside the box, and trying some of these unconventional, reasonably priced, healthy, and maybe not top-of-mind restaurants.

Pair your Chai Spiced Challah French Toast, Scrambled Tofu, or Breakfast Strata with your favorite tea. Location: 11410 Century Oaks Terrace (at The Domain) Suite 112.
Manuel’s– Try their Jazz Sunday Brunch from 10 AM- 3 PM, featuring live music from 11:30 AM-2:30 PM. Pair your selected meal with a Mimosa or Bloody Mary for $4 or under. Location: On the 2nd floor of the hotel at 7th and Congress Avenue.
The Belmont– The Belmont offers an “American classic” feel, with deep mohagany and brass lining the inside dining/drinking area, and an open outdoor patio that brings classy character to West 6th. Enjoy their brunch on Sundays from 11 AM- 3 PM. Go family style, for $14.95, or order a la carte from their menu including Spinach Salad, Quiche, Captain Crunch French Toast, Seafood Crepes, and the Belmont Burger. Location: 305 W. 6th

Zocalo Cafe– This Latin Clarksville eatery serves up some of the best salsas in town. Their decor is bright, clean, and modern, and their outdoor patio is a great spot for catching up with friends or family with some fresh air. Try their delicious brunch on Saturday and Sunday from 10 AM-2 PM. They even serve Churros, sweet pastries served with dipping chocolates, Apple Empanadas, and delicious, savory Mexican dishes, with avocado, queso fresco, black beans, and drizzled with a kick.
