This weekend, one of my favorite annual Austin events is happening:  Art City Austin.  I am lucky to always have advance notice of the highlights of this event since my dear friend, Allison Specter is the Program Director of Art Alliance Austin, the organization that brings this impressive art explosion to our aesthetic-loving city once a year.

One of the most talked-about art installations associated with this year’s Art City Austin is the ‘yarn bombing’ by new Austinite, Magda Sayeg of Knitta, Please.  Watch the urban art adding color to the Lamar bridge come to life as Allison tells us about what to expect at the event this year.  Also, learn more of the story behind Magda, the same artist that added a splash of color to the Jo’s Coffee sign on Soco from Jodi of Tasty Touring during SXSW.

I highly Rebeccammend you stop by this year’s Art City Austin, an art fair and festival celebrating the works of over 190 selected artists with live music, and local bites.  It was last year at this event that I stumbled upon one of my favorite fine foods dessert vendors: Holy Cacao!  It will take place downtown on Cesar Chavez and the 1st Street Bridge.  And, two of my favorite local artists will be there: JJWorldStudio (fabulous photography and digital prints) and Edson Enriquez of Limbo Jewelry Design!

Entrances on Cesar Chavez & Guadalupe, Cesar Chavez & Colorado, Cesar Chavez & Lamar, or South 1st Street at the Bridge. See Map
