In case you missed the announcement on Monday, Austin Food Bloggers are banding together to form a formal (but fun) alliance (AFBA) for the grassroots local food-eating digital-writing investigators in the Capital City of Austin, Texas. We established the non-profit organization to bring bloggers together who have the same appreciation for topics related to local food/drink, including farm-to-table cooking, local spirits making, food traditions, recipes, restaurants, menus, the list keeps going. Together, we’ll learn about food-making practices, ethics in writing, food photography. We’ll socialize with other Austin food bloggers to strengthen our network and alliance. We’ll participate in community outreach through food philanthropy.
As a result, I hope you’ll see our writing strengthen, our community’s support of local food grow, and learn more about food/drinks in our city from all angles.
Our first project launched just before SXSW- the Austin Food Blogger Alliance City Guide! It includes our picks in Asian, Gluten-Free, BBQ, Vegan food, as well as unique Austin Experiences, like Sustainable Dining, where to Entertain Clients, Late Night Eats, and Austin Restablishments and Austin Nextablishments (Yes, I made those words up), and of course top sipping spots.
And, to help you out during your stay throughout the year or during SXSW, search for the hashtag: #sxswfood on Twitter to see the chatter about local bites…. or feel free to email me at Rebeccammendations (a) gmail.com or Tweet me @rbcammendations for on-the-spot Rebeccammendations!
Let the Interactive, Film-Induced, Post-jammin’ eating begin! Happy SXSWing!
