End of Winter/early Spring is known as Awards Season- you know, for accolade and fashion shindigs and musical performances like the Oscars, the Grammy’s, and the Emmy’s. Many of us gather around the TV to watch our favorite celebrities get recognized and some of us even use it as an excuse to get dolled up and have a theme party. Seems to me that Austin has it’s own local Awards Season, and I love it! Why? Because with these awards, we get a say in who wins (or at least who is nominated), and we get to be The Academy.
There are three awards nomination/submission periods happening RIGHT NOW. They are:
- FAVE Awards– The Austin Young Chamber of Commerce (AYC) is hosting it’s second annual Favorite Austin Ventures Enterprises (FAVE) Awards in October, but they are asking for public nominations for our favorite local businesses, news sources, festivals, eateries, and more by July 15th. Go put in your FAVEs.
- Austin Chronicle Best of Austin 2011 Awards– Lots of categories, so you can nominate lots of your favorite local people, places, and blogs :). Nominations due Monday, July 18th!
- SXSW 2012 Panel Picker Submissions– Have something technology or interactive-related to share? Submit your panel to be considered for a big time audience at SXSW 2011! Submissions due July 15th! (This one isn’t really an award nomination, BUT, the public will get to vote on selected panels starting August 15th!
