Haute Off the Press!

The official opening for the Austin location of Max's Wine Dive, the Houston-based restaurant featuring bar food-gone-classy, was today!  Our team from work had been eye-ing it since the first sign of construction indicated a new happy hour location one block from our office building.  We were waiting outside when the doors officially opened at 4 PM to celebrate Jenn's birthday, and we were beckoned inside by one of the owners with "Welcome to Max's!" which set the tone for a memorable and enthusiastic atmosphere during our entire experience.

Our Max's Wine Dive opening day experience came complete with enthusiastic waitstaff, tasty dishes, happy hour wine specials, free dessert, and t-shirts!

Among their famous classy bar food delicacies are "Haute Dogs " and Pan Borracho, or "Drunk Bread,"  that co-star on the revolutionary menu with an extensive wine list.  It's the perfect setting for anyone looking for a fun and tasty dining experience, where it is not only acceptable, but encouraged, for men to explore their softer side (with wine) without compromising their taste for endulgent bar bites.  And, classy ladies can still feel classy with buffalo Sliders and the Cheese Course, or go for the gusto with Southern Fried Chicken or the Yama Kobe Beef Burger, that with add-ons, can come out to almost $30.  But, you can bet that it would be unlike any other burger you've had before. We ordered the Cheese Course, served by the Chef himself, that included a Goat Cheese, a Chevre, and a Blue Cheese, some of which were produced locally by Central Texas Brazos Valley Cheese, and accompanied by crostini and an olive tapenade shot.  We also had to order the Pan Borracho ("Drunk Bread") that was like a garlicy version of bread-pudding. Very rich and tasty.  In honor of Jenn's birthday, she was even surprised with a complimentary crunchy, yet soft fudge brownie and ice cream dessert that was absolutely delicious!  As soon as it was delivered to the table, the entire restaurant staff in the kitchen yelled "Happy Birthday!" in unison.  So fun!  Jen, Katie, and I sported our free-for-first-50-customers t-shirts to pose for a picture before we left. You're guaranteed to have a great time!  Try the $5 Luxury wines, and $4 wine blends during happy hour (4-7 PM) and Reverse Happy Hour (from 12-2 AM). Max's Wine Dive on Urbanspoon
