Modern Urban Bed-and-Breakfast

Sometimes out of town guests show up at your door, sometimes they call on their way in to town, and sometimes you know they are coming to Austin in advance and they look to you, their trusty in-the-know Austinite for ideas of what to do and where to stay, especially if you don’t have room for them to even crash on your couch…We’re growing up people, and it’s time to know about alternatives to traditional hotels, and focus on unique retreats for guests looking for a unique experience during their stay in our fabulous city. Today, I discovered the Kimber Modern, a new-age take on a home-y Bed-and-Breakfast just to the East of South Congress and a few miles South of Riverside. Keep in mind, my Rebeccammendation has not been checked out in person as I write this, but I was sold when I read about it and was dazzled by the pictures on their website highlighting the modern architecture with clean lines and a chic feel. I would “Rebeccammend” you suggest the Kimber Modern to a visiting young (or hip older–think parents) couple you might be entertaining that is looking for a treat while on a retreat in Austin…perhaps for an anniversary or birthday trip…as the room rates are comparable to that of a resort/spa, yet you get the full Austin experience being just across the street from the eclectic food/shopping the SoCo district has to offer.
