Friends, family, compadres, colleagues, we’re excited to share that we are moving West to Denver, Colorado this Fall! That’s right, this handsome Minnesotan and sun-loving native Texan have found just the right mix of midwestern friendliness in the Southwest, Texas-like sunshine and mountains, and the nature we both love to immerse ourselves in. You may have seen my Top 10 Things To Do in Denver post recently, and our travels there inspired us so much, we’ve decided to call it our next home city. (Smile and tear :*))
Believe it or not, I made it 5 winters here! And almost 6 years to the day from when I set foot in Chicago in my twenties, as single as can be, and only knowing a few people, we’ll be starting a new chapter in our new home city taking with us incredible relationships and experiences! While I’m overflowing with happiness, nostalgia, and abundant memories with so many amazing people, it’s pretty tough to recount all of the rich moments and blessings Chicago has brought to me and to us, especially in one blog post. Here are some highlights from my time in Chicago:
- 3 jobs, landing at Salesforce
- 2 apartments
- 1 condo kitchen remodel One Room Challenge
- 5 New Year’s Day brunches
- Food highlights
- 1 website relaunch
- 1 interview with Lipstick & Ink (thank you, Kelly!)
- Teaching as a Digital Marketing instructor at General Assembly
- Teaching at Loyola University, DePaul University, Year Up, and Startup Institute Chicago
- Spring dinner, inspired by Chicago’s Blue Door Farm Stand
- 1 unforgettable wedding <3
- Starting the Nourish Your Network career relationship building event series (catch my last workshop as a Chicago resident on 9.12.2018!)
- Countless friends and new relationships built!!
While this is certainly not a goodbye post – I believe that relationships are continuous and can span generations, languages, and geographies, so we are grateful to be a part of so many incredible lives of our Chicago extended family who welcomed us with open arms, and to have met you along our journey. Please reach out if you’re in Colorado so our paths can cross again and don’t you worry – we’ll be back to The Windy City that we will always call home. We have some fantastic family and friends in Denver (can’t wait to see y’all!), and if you know anyone we have to meet, we’d love an intro!
I’ll keep this post brief as we have lots of this final Chicago summer to soak up and people to see before our timezone and zip code change. However, I’ll leave you with my ever-evolving Restaurant Rebeccammendations list featuring tabs for Chicago and some of our more frequented cities in case you need an idea for your next meal! Cheers to new adventures, and we’re forever thankful, Chicago!
