Bend over Backwards Thursday (9.17.09)

If you’ve ever been to a big family wedding, a kids birthday party, or a bar/bat mitzvah, you are familiar with games like Musical Chairs, the Hokey Pokey (ok, more of a dance), and Seven Up. I would venture to say that one such popular game that never fails to entertain is the Limbo. I can hear it now..”How low can you go?” “Can you go down low?” How can you not love watching people fall while trying to squeeze under a pole positioned at a 1-foot height?

When it comes to local artists in Austin, I happen to have similar sentiments towards Limbo Jewelry Design. Truly talented jeweler and artist Edson Enriquez never fails to dazzle me with his simple, yet stunning accessories. I can spot one of his pieces out of a crowd because his unique work has a consistent “exculsive, modern, and original” look, staying true to the Limbo Jewelry Design tagline. If you are in need of a gift for a special lady, or…of course, yourself, head on over to the Limbo Jewelry Design Fall ’09 Exclusive Preview Event on Thursday, September 17 from 7-10 PM at 702 Shady Lane to see his new studio, save on this summer’s designs, and preview his new Fall collection. Drinks and appetizers will be complimentary, provided by Hosteria Verde Supper Club & Catering. Click here for more info. If you can’t make this event, Edson sets up camp on South Congress under a tent next to Vespaio on the weekends and some weeknights where you can admire, and hopefully wear his work home.

Speaking of bending over backwards, participate in a fun philanthropic event this Thursday, September 17th: CharityBash at Cuba Libre from 7-10 PM, benefitting GenAustin, an empowerment organization for girls. There is a minimum $10 donation to attend, but you can feel good about donating to a great cause, and have fun with your friends!

Sounds like a fabulous start to the weekend already…
