Crazy for Crimps!

pie bites
She's My Cherry Crimps- Note: Crimps are smaller than they appear in this photo.

Don’t you just want to take one of these sprinkly, bite-sized, crimpy pie bites and pop it in your mouth? I know, me too. I was lucky to be able to do just that last week when I was invited to a Jour de Bastille day party hosted by local bakeresses of The Pie Society at House Wine. And, let me tell you, for a girl who didn’t grow up with big pie roots, these little pie-poppers are perfect for a snack-a-holic like me. There’s not too much crust in the crust-to-pie ratio, and when there is crust, it is crimpy, I mean crispy, and the filling rounds out the bite just perfectly, not to mention the sugar crystals for a little sweet crunchy texture. With flavors like Coocoo for Coconut, PB and Chocolate, Nutella Surprise (with banana), Apple of My Eye, She’s My Cherry, and savory options like It’s Got Bacon with jalapenos and cream cheese, and The Margherita (“the yummy fresh pizza, not the drink, you lush”), these bites are perfect for a thank you or birthday work delivery, a gift for a host when invited over for dinner without time to bake, or for fun and easy snacks for girls’ night or poker night (those It’s Got Bacon crimps have poker night written all over them).

I don’t know about you, but I’m thinking these easy online-order-for-delivery miniature filled dough-pockets are the new cupcake, the new cake ball, and I hope the new Costco snack run replacement. After all, they’re fresh, they’re delicious, they’re bite-sized, they’re crowd-pleasers, and they’re a locally scratch-baked invention that I’m so glad I discovered. Thanks to the pie gals, type in TPS10 when you checkout your order online for 10% off your purchase! Hip-pie horray!
