5 Ways to Spruce Up Your Nest for Spring

I don’t know about you, but right before the seasons change, I get the urge to change up our living space. Whether it’s a new colorful pillow, picking up a small piece of furniture for that always-empty corner, a new piece of art, or even a new candle can do wonders to give you energy to feel renewed! While we’re still cleaning and shifting things around after our move and remodel last year, I’m sharing the simple home accessories I picked up that are both stylish, and affordable. Here are 5 simple ways to shake up your home interior design for feel good vibes as Spring arrives!

1. New Lighting Why I love it: Add a new lamp or swap light fixtures to change the vibrance and energy in your most personal space. We snagged these Sculptural Geo Milk Pendants on sale (under $100 each). West Elm really masters the art of well-made products for the home with style that work for city living and tight spaces. Their new lighting collection is eye-catching, minimalistic, and cost-conscious.  They add some sophistication and modern angles to our kitchen. We filled them with LIFX Wifi LED lights we control from our phones to dim or brighten, and adjust the color based on our mood. They’re pretty awesome! (Consider them for a gift – we received them as a gift and just love them as they fit in most light fixtures, even free-standing lamps.)

2. Pops of Color! Why I love it: Let’s face it – all the fun is found in accents! A cool watch or necklace can amp up an outfit, just like colorful pieces can liven up neutral colors at home. Fun fact – while Zola is primarily a wedding registry, it’s also an e-commerce store with interesting pieces that can add a little flare to your home life. Here’s the ceramic blue and white utensil canister we use daily and the blue ceramic tart dish, where I debuted a Ratatouille recipe that was so fun to make! We’re going with a blue and white theme in the kitchen, as you can see…

3. Light a Candle- Why I love it: Sometimes you just need a new candle and these Aromatherapy Genuine themed soy candles are some of my favorites from the one and only Tar-jay. Don’t you just feel warm and fuzzy looking at them? Happiness and Love smell pretty good too! The wicks are non-metal and lead-free for easy, healthy breathing.

4. Flowers-Grab a Bunch Why I love it! Nothing says Spring (or “I wish it was Spring”) like a bouquet of your favorite – or favorite colored – flowers. It’s so fun to pick a color, style, or what’s in season to change up the aura at home. Something about literally adding life – in the form of flowers – to the party that is an instant mood-booster. My favorite go-to flower purveyor is the one and only Trader Joe’s – the selection is fantastic and fresh, and you can pick up some nice looking stems for under $10. #Worthit! You can even turn them upside down and tie them to a door handle with a string to dry to make the petals last a little longer.

And, here are the bright tulips my honey thoughtfully brought home last week – just love them! They brightened up our morning alongside homemade berry banana smoothies over the weekend!

5. Get Baking Why I love it! Not only does it feel fun to go from a list of separate ingredients to creating something yummy to eat provide a feeling of accomplishment, there’s no substitute for the smell of something sweet freshly baked when you walk in the door. It’s awesome when that sweet scent lingers for future homecomings too. Here’s the recent mmm-smells-so-good recipe I can’t stop making before having guests over – the Chocolate Banana Marble bread from Smitten Kitchen. It’s seriously a winner!
