[...] I’ve always wanted to be one step ahead of where I stood. Some may say this means I like a good challenge. Typically, I’ll get my feet wet, then jump right in. For example, the photo above is of the very first turkey I fearfully made almost a year ago, last January. Come to find out, it’s the preparation that is most of the work, then the cooking just takes time-and it can be pretty simple, as it was when I made that 5-Step Turkey. [...]

Rebecca, I am so proud of you for attempting a turkey for the first time. It looks great, I'm sure tastes delicious, and I am sure lasted you for most of the week. The recipe was perfect the way you did it. I pour sweet wine over mine which adds alot to the flavor. If you have some left, you can always make a package in the freezer for further use. Nice going. You never seize to amaze me.. Love, Grandma

Erin,

Thank you for sharing your favorite turkey recipe. Now that I'm no longer a first-timer, I will try it the next time my urge to make a turkey calls!

Ok...so it's March and I'm now finding this post, mostly because I wanted to see if you'd blogged that restaurant you mentioned the other day. Remind me the name.

I hosted Thanksgiving for probably the 10th time in the last 15 years and found a Turkey recipe on epicurious. Cider Brined Turkey. It was the best turkey I've ever had and DEFINITELY the best turkey I ever made....http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/Cider-Brined-and-Glazed-Turkey-233148. Skip the dressing recipe, but the gravy is worth doing.

That looks delicious! And what a great color!! My turkey got a little overcooked this Thanksgiving. I definitely needed to let it bake in the foil a bit longer. Enjoy all the turkey sandwiches!
